Deepak Kumar (IAS:1984: BH) is viewed as the most prospective successor to Bihar Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh who is scheduled to retire in February next year. Reportedly, Nitish Kumar also wants to induct Singh in his cabinet via Bihar Legislative Council route early next year.
Indianmandarins understands that Kumar's stint at NHAI has been widely appreciated. So it may be a bit unlikely for the Centre to let him go to Bihar. However, there is also another side to it. Kumar had earlier served as the Principal Secretary to Nitish Kumar and he shares good chemistry with him. Moreover, every IAS officer desires to be the CS.
