Chakraborty has been quietly waiting for his turn to get Secretary rank post in Govt of India. Chakraborty currently serves as Director General, Directorate General of Hydrocarbons which is mandated to promote sound management of the oil and natural gas resources having a balanced regard for environment, safety, technological and economic aspects of the petroleum activity.
