New Delhi (03.05.2025): Having completed three-year-long tenure as Principal Financial Sector Specialist at Asian Development Bank (Manila) in April 2025, senior IAS officer Sanjeev Kaushik (1992: KL) is now in the spotlight. A section of insiders says that he may resign from the IAS to continue with the lucrative job at ADB (Manilla). Reportedly, ADB has offered him to continue till he attains 65 years of age on absorption basis. Contrary to this, another section of insiders terms this as a tenuous possibility.
ADB would have preferred his services on absorption basis on account of his vast experience in capital markets (SEBI), banking, finance (DEA) and infrastructure (IIFCL), yet it is not an easy decision for such a senior IAS officer to bid a good-bye to the service.
The genesis of these two contrary views apparently lies with the fact that before Kerala got the new Chief Secretary in A Jayathilak (IAS: 1991: KL) on  April 23, 2025, Kaushik’s name didn’t find place on the list of contenders in any leading news platform. Apparently, it was clear to all and sundry that he would not be repatriated to the cadre. Further, not being considered for secretary-level empanelment due to being on foreign assignment, initial as well as review list, may have given impetus to the speculations of Kaushik continuing with the ADB. Still it remains unclear whether he would resign from the service or continue with the lucrative offer at ADB.(By Rakesh Ranjan)
