New Delhi (03.05.2025): Weeks ahead of the retirement of the second interim CMD of SJVN the Centre appointed Bhupender Gupta as the interim CMD of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Limited. In addition to the charge as CMD, SJVN Bhupender Gupta will continue to hold his prime responsibility as Director (Technical), THDC India Limited.
Since Nand Lal Sharma retired on 29 February 2024 this is for the third consecutive term SJVN has been put under the interim arrangement.
It may be noted that PESB had on 8 April 2024 selected Sushil Sharma (Director- Projects, SJVN) for the CMD post in SJVN but the ACC did not ratify it after the Lok Pal of India, reportedly, raised eyebrows on the selection.
On the retirement of N L Sharma the then Director Personnel (SJVN) Geeta Kapoor was made CMD w.e.f. 01.03.2024 on an ad hoc basis. Ahead of the retirement of Geeta Kapoor (the first ever woman CMD of SJVN) the Govt handed over the additional charge to Raj Kumar Chaudhary (CMD, NHPC) of SJVN w.e.f. 01.11.2024.
In the current context additional charge of SJVN has been assigned to Bhupender Gupta vice R K Chaudhary (CMD, NHPC) who is retiring next month; another interim arrangement for SJVN for the third consecutive time.
