New Delhi (16.03.2022): 

• CBDT: The incumbent Chairman Jagannath Bidyadhar Mohapatra (IRS IT:1985) is scheduled to retire on 30 April. Three names doing round the corners for the post.
• Railway Board: Following the entrustment of additional charge (w.e.f. 15.03.2022) of the post of (Traction and Rolling Stock), to VK Tripathi, Chairman & CEO of Railway Board, chances for Ashutosh Gangal (GM, NR) as member appears bleak. Insiders Gangal had missed the bus for Chairman & CEO position in January this year yet hope for him of becoming DG HR Railway Board still remains.   
• North Block: An official from DOPT was especially rushed last week from North Block to a neighboring state to get the receiving of Supreme Court notice served on an All India Service officer. Interestingly, the notice was already sent to the officer by the Supreme Court registry yet the establishment didn’t take any chance. Reportedly, the notice pertains to the same case in which SGI argued in the Apex Court in absence of the officer on February 21, 2022.
• Uttar Pradesh: Power corridors are abuzz that Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra (IAS:1984:UP) may continue on the coveted post yet he may not have a smooth sail ahead. Will he be given another assignment at the Centre in the coming months is a big question.
• CBDT: Five posts of Principal Chief Commissioner Income Tax (PCCIT), CBDT, are lying vacant at present.
