Rumours are rumours; they can't be news. Two rumours-one, on raising of retirement age of Supreme Court judges and another, on ED Chief Karnail Singh's resignation-did rounds of Lutyens' Delhi recently. Though they failed to make media headlines as senior journalists set them aside considering they were mere rumors based one one's superfluous assumptions.
However, before they could become fodder for mass consumption, Indianmandarins tried to dig out whether there was any substance in it or not. Upon cross-checking, it was found that there was no official move to raise the retiring age of SC judges from 65 to 67 years nor was it true that the ED Chief would resign.
Rather the fact is that Karnail Singh will remain firm on the turf till the completion of two years fixed term, which ends on October 26, 2018.
