New Delhi (06.09.2024): Top bureaucrats made detailed
presentation to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on Waqf (Amendment)
Bill wherein they disclosed details about encroached Waqf properties in the
National Capital Region and also those belonging to Ministry of Railways and
Road Transport. Chairman of Railway Board Satish Gautam, Member
(Infrastructure) of Railway Board Anil Kumar Khandelwal, Urban Affairs and Road
Transport Secretary Anurag Jain (IAS: 1989: MP) and senior officials from other
ministries made presentation to JPC. The ministry officials argued that Waqf
Amendment will help them remove encroachment on government land and carry out
development projects faster.
