New Delhi (03.07.2021): Unity in the Uttrakhand BJP has taken a huge hit from the unbridled personal ambitions of some of its leaders. This is reflected in the resignation of CM Tirath Singh Rawat, which is not yet accepted, on the ground that he couldn't be elected on time to continue as the CM. Not too long ago, he had replaced the previous CM Trivendra Singh Rawat.

Tirath Singh's resignation has opened up the CM's gaddi for grab. While it can't be denied that Satpal Maharaj, Anil Baluni, and over half--dozen MLAs may wish to capture the CM's post, their job is made a bit tricky by the demand of supporters of Trivendra Singh Rawat to restore the CM's office to him.

This kind of tussle may presumably be not good for the party in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections in February 2022.  The incumbent CM is also said to have been unable to implement the promised development works and many other schemes on account of internal squabbles.

Could Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar who has been made the observer to get a new leader elected in the state iron out the differences within the state party unit?

The tragedy of the BJP is that whenever it comes to power in Uttarakhand, none of its CMs is able to complete five years in the office.
