If some well-placed sources are to be believed after keeping plum posts vacant for many months, the NaMo administration may post Rajeev Topno (IAS:1996:GJ) as Senior Adviser to ED, World Bank and Brajendra Navnit (IAS:1999:TN) as India's Ambassador to Permanent Mission for India in WTO.

Topno is Private Secretary to Prime Minister whereas Navneet recently repatriated to cadre after having a long stint as Joint Secretary in PMO.

In case the information turns out to be true it would be a big reward for both officers considered hard-working, low-profile and brilliant civil servants who have a proven track record of trust and confidentiality. Indianmandarins had earlier reported that one private person Rahul Bijoria, considered close to BJP, might also be posted as Advisor, World Bank under Rajeev Topno.

Foreign assignments are considered plum posts as they provide wholesome packages in terms of work opportunity, global exposure, competence and tax-free high salary, pension and perks etc.
