New Delhi (01.07.2021); Former PS to the then Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis and former BMC Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi (IAS:1985:MH) on Wednesday took charge as Member (Administration), Union government’s National Capacity Building CommissionIt may be noted that former Infosys CEO SD Shibu Lal was recently roped in to chair a three-member task force to implement the PM's concept of 'Karmyogi' in the bureaucracy and make it a true vehicle of public service.

Pardeshi is due for retirement in November 2021 whereas his assignment with the Commission is a two-year job.

In his new stint, Pardeshi will coordinate with and supervise all the government offices and training institutes to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Centre’s plans and create shared resources.

It may be underlined that he resigned from the post immediately after the MVA Govt appointed him as ACS Marathi language and proceeded to join PM Modi’s ambitious move i.e. National Capacity Building Commission.

After his stint as BMC Commissioner, he joined United Nations as a consultant for a few months and later rejoined in February 2021. After he lost to his batchmate Sitaram J Kunte (IAS:1985:MH) to become Chief Secretary he again went back to the UN and later rejoined the services of the Maharashtra government this week. Surprisingly, the Udhav Thakarey administration relieved and allowed Pardeshi to join the Central government posting.

NCBC will also assist PM’s Public Human Resources Council in approving the annual capacity-building plans and will make necessary recommendations. It will also suggest policy changes required in the areas of HR management and capacity building for civil servants.
