Power corridors are agog with speculations of a major bureaucratic reshuffle at the top by the end of the month as the NaMo administration seems to be gearing up for Election 2019.
The foremost indicator of likely changes is the ongoing buzz over the appointment of a new I&B Secretary as the current secretary Secretary N K Sinha (IAS:1980: BH) will retire in the next 32 days. Sinha's successor may have a full tenure up to 2019 elections - the period that will be critical to the NDA government.
It is learnt that apart from regular vacancies and appointments, at least three Union Secretaries (belonging to 1981, 1982 and 1983 batches) are expected to be laterally shifted even though their retirement is due.
In addition to secretary-level changes, one can not rule out the possibility of changes at the top berth.
