During his seven years single tenure at the Centre (From January 2002 to January 2009), he served as PS to Minister of Steel and further as Jt secretary, Dept of Biotech and CVO, DDA.
Arun Kumar Sarangi (IPS:1990:OR):
He is currently Special Director Intelligence, a post assigned to him in March this year. Earlier he has been functioning as IG Intelligence. Since the state faces a lot of extremist problems being rich in minerals, Sarangi's job is of utmost importance. Indeed, he is credited with mitigating the extremist problem of the state. Sarangi's elevation has also followed a seamless course. Before IG Intelligence, he held the post of IG Vigilance. Once he moved out from there, it was given to B Khurania.
V Karthikeya Pandian (IAS:2000:OR):
He is Secretary to the CM and also called in jest 'Super Chief Secretary'. The joke is due to the fact that ministers queue up to meet him and present their case for consideration of the CM. Patnaik depends on him for feedback in a structured manner.
