Bengaluru (19.05.2023): With Karnataka DGP Praveen Sood (IPS: 1986: KN) appointed as Director, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and a new government taking over in the state, two senior IPS officers—Alok Mohan (IPS: 1987: KN) and Kamal Pant (IPS: 1990: KN) —are in the race to become the state police chief.Alok Mohan, DGP and commandant-general of home guards, director of civil defence, director-general of fire and emergency services and state disaster management, is the topmost contender in terms of seniority. Kamal Pant DGP (recruitment) is a former city police commissioner. C H Pratap Reddy (IPS: 1990: KN), the Bengaluru city police commissioner who was promoted as DGP in January, is also in the race.
