Three in race for DGP, Gujarat; Pande tipped for additional charge

With the appointment of P C Thakur (IPS:1979:GJ) as DG at centre today speculations have started doing rounds over new police chief for Gujarat. Reportedly, P P Pande (IPS:1980:GJ) may be assigned to officiate as DGP till the appointment of a regular incumbent.
In addition to P P Pande two more names are in race for the top cop job namely; Ms Geetha Johri (IPS:1982:GJ) and Shiva Nand Jha (IPS:1983:GJ). Ms Johri has 17 months of residual service whereas Jha will superannuate in October 2020.
