Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that Ms Geetha Johri is all set to become first woman top cop of Gujarat. As Indianmandarins had anticipated yesterday P P Pande (IPS:1980:GJ) has been given additional charge of Director General of Police. He will be officiating as DGP till the appointment of new incumbent which may be declared by Monday.
Her elevation was triggered by state DGP PC Thakur's transfer to the Centre as the Director General of Civil Defence and Home Guards on deputation. The Centre is learnt to have requested the state government to release him immediately to enable him to take up his new assignment.
