NHPC recommends a dividend of Rs.1.50 per equity share for the year 2019-20

NHPC Limited, in its  44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 29th September 2020 recommended a dividend of Rs.1.50 per equity share for the year 2019-20, which was inclusive of the interim dividend of Rs.1.18 per equity share paid in March 2020. 
A.K. Singh, CMD, NHPC addressed the shareholders at the AGM wherein members of NHPC Board and Company Secretary, NHPC were also present. He informed that the Company had earned a total revenue of Rs. 9,771.59 crore, revenue from operations (net) of Rs. 8,735.41 crore and Net Profit After Tax (PAT) of Rs. 3,007.17 crore during the FY 2019-20.
Singh also said that NHPC had achieved its highest-ever annual generation of 26,121 Million Units (MUs) surpassing the previous highest generation of 24,193 MUs during the financial year 2018-19. 
Singh also informed about MoUs signed with Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha Limited (GEDCOL) to form a Joint Venture Company (JVC) to plan and develop techno-commercially feasible floating solar power projects of 500 MW in Odisha, and with Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Limited (HIDCL), a company owned by Govt. of Nepal for joint cooperation to develop hydropower projects in Nepal.
The Company has also received in-principle approval from MNRE for enhancement of Solar Park capacity (from 100 MW to 140 MW) in Odisha, which envisages the development of two projects of 40 MW and 100 MW.

NHPC chief talks to Ladakh LG about developing hydro and solar projects

With Modi government focusing more on renewable energy, chief of central PSU NHPC under Ministry of Power has held a meeting with Ladakh LG R K Mathur to discuss its proposals and way forward for implementation of various identified Hydro and Solar Power Projects in Leh-Ladakh region with a view to leverage development of Hydro and Solar Power Projects in the UT.

 

AK Singh, CMD, NHPC during the meeting intimated the LG about the achievement of NHPC in harnessing Hydro Power potential of Ladakh region by commissioning 45 MW Nimmo Bazgo in Leh and 44 MW Chutak Hydro Power Projects in Kargil. Singh also presented future plan of NHPC to develop 3 Hydro Power Projects viz. Khalsi (80 MW), Kanyunche (45 MW) and Takmaching (30 MW) in Ladakh along with a solar power project of capacity 50 MW at Phyang. While explaining the techno-commercial viability of projects, CMD, NHPC proposed that taking advantage of high solar irradiance of the region, blending of Hydro Power with Solar Power may also be explored.

NHPC announces relief initiatives worth Rs 4.5 crore to fight COVID-19

NHPC Limited has earmarked Rs 4.5 crore to help the people in the vicinity of NHPC power stations/projects to fight the COVID19 pandemic. Reporedly, the Board of Directors, headed by the newly appointed CMD Abhay Kumar Singh, in a meeting via video conferencing discussed with the respective heads of power stations, projects and regional offices of NHPC on various issue related to its implementation. The meeting  was attended by Ratish Kumar, Director (Projects); N K Jain,  Director (Personnel);  M K Mittal, Director (Finance);  Janardan Choudhary, Director (Technical).

A total of Rs 4.5 crore (including Rs 1.36 crs contribution by employees) was allotted for carrying out various activities to help the people in the vicinity of power stations and projects of NHPC.

Besides this, the company has developed 40-bedded quarantine centres with the help of government authorities, Reasi, J&K; 17-bedded quarantine centres at Dulhasti Power Station, Distt Kishtwar J&K and 10-bedded quarantine centre with attached bathroom and required accessories at Uri-I Power station, Distt Baramulla J&K.

NHPC hospitals/dispensaries were instructed to provide 24-hrs OPD services. Distribution of rice, flour, biscuit, soap, sanitizer, liquid hand wash, gloves, mask etc has already started under CSR-SD from some of NHPC locations w.e.f. 25.3.2020.

Indianmandarins reliably learns that Abhay Kumar Singh takes charge as new CMD of National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC). He replaces Balraj Joshi. Consequent upon the retirement of Joshi on 31.12.2019 the ACC had appointed Ratish Kumar (Director, Projects, NHPC) as interim CMD.

The public sector headhunter had on 20.08.2019 selected A K Singh for the top job. Singh completed his Civil Engineering from NIT (National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, West Bengal) in 1983. He joined NHPC at Tanakpur HE (Hydro-Electric) Project as a probationary executive in 1985 & played a vital role in many hydroelectric projects for 35 years.

Many profit making PSUs may be sold out soon

This will be for the first time when government completely exits from profit-making Central PSUs. The plan is to bring down government equity to zero in these three companies in phased manner. Though it was indicated in the budget that equity in PSUs would be brought down to below 51 per cent.

Reportedly, the Centre is all set to move a cabinet note for sale of its stake in major PSUs that included BPCL, CONCOR and Shipping Corporation of India (SCI).

At present, the government holds 63.75% equity in SCI, 54.8% in CONCOR and 53.29% stake in BPCL.

The government increased its disinvestment target to over Rs 1 lakh crore for the current financial year in the last budget.

It is also proposing to sell its 75% stake in THDC to NTPC, while 100 percent of its stake in North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited (NEEPCO) to NHPC.
