New Delhi (08.05.2023): The state where there had not been any schism on the religious ground is under emergency situation for over a week or so. In view of the ongoing violence, the Government of Manipur recalled senior IAS officer Vineet Joshi (IAS:1992:MN) and the Centre took little time to relieve him for his appointment as Chief Secretary of the state by ceasing the extended tenure of the incumbent CS Dr Rajesh Kumar (IAS:1988:MN) who is otherwise considered to be an ace administrator but apparently not tough enough to handle the unprecedented situation as the state is facing. There is a BJP-led government in the state and at the Centre making things embarrassing for the ruling dispensation.
In the backdrop of the latest decision, a small section of civil servants termed Joshi as Man Friday of the New Delhi establishment as well as for the state government. Ahead of Secretary-level empanelment, recalling and relieving the services of Joshi handling equally important vertical i.e. National Testing Agency (NTA) testifies his utility in administration.
