A Shastri Bhawan minister recently informed the Prime Minister that one of his three secretaries was too slow to move matters. Reportedly, the PM, as usual, did not let the minister read his eyes leaving the minister clueless about his response but the minister was satisfied that at least he conveyed his difficulties. One of the three departments of this ministry is incidentally located outside Shastri Bhawan. An officer humorously quoted another minister's old statement as having stated that "I am lucky to have officers who can say no to me. And PMO needs officers who can say no". He meant to say that probably the minister was puzzled as to how the PM might have taken his complaint. If one goes by Irani's statement, it might well be that the PM might have interpreted the complaint as an unwillingness on the part of the secretary concerned to kowtow to the minister's wishes. While we leave you guessing, we won't like you to jump to a conclusion. So we may like to clarify that the minister and secretary concerned do not belong to any ministry houses in Shastri Bhawan.
