New Delhi (27.11.2025): Diptasri Barma Arora (IRS C&IT: 1991) has been promoted and elevated to the rank of Chief Commissioner of Customs and Indirect Taxes within the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

The promotion, effective for the panel year 2024, has been granted on a notional basis from July 1, 2024. This notional date aligns with the promotion date of her immediate junior, ensuring her seniority is maintained. The order states that the promotion will take effect on an actual basis immediately.

Arora is set to assume the charge of the promotional post on an in-situ basis until her regular posting is finalized. Sources familiar with the development indicate that this elevation to the Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) comes after a protracted legal battle concerning her promotion.

A section of officials noted that the promotion signifies that Arora has finally "got her dues," marking a culmination of her service and the resolution of the court-related dispute over her rightful progression to the Chief Commissioner rank. Her regular posting orders will be issued subsequently following the approval of the Competent Authority.
