13 days after OP Singh was repatriated to UP as the state DGP, the CISF is still waiting for a regular incumbent even though many senior IPS officers are available. Many of these officers are serving at the center in the rank of DG and Special DG with seven or eight months of service still remaining for their retirement.
It is also learnt that many senior IPS officers are keen on the post. Among them stands MP DGP Rishi Kumar Shukla (IPS:1983: MP) as a dark horse. He has more than two years in hand to serve. What has triggered speculations about him is that it's the first time that an ADG rank officer belonging to MP cadre has been holding the additional charge of DG, CISF which is usually given to a DG of CPMF as a stop-gap arrangement. It is also heard that Rajesh Ranjan (IPS:1984: BH) may also have a fair chance for the top post but he is seen trying his luck for the BSF top post as the present DG K K Sharma will retire in the next couple of months.
