Lucknow (29.07.2024): The Samajwadi Party has chosen 81-year-old Brahmin leader Mata Prasad Pandey as the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in UP Legislative Assembly, the post that was vacated by Akhilesh Yadav. Akhilesh quit the Assembly to retain the Kannauj Lok Sabha seat that he won in the recent parliamentary polls. The upbeat SP is now eying Brahmin voters in the state and just a day before the start of the Monsoon Session of Uttar Pradesh Assembly, a surprise was offered. This may turn out to be a big challenge for the BJP if Congress and SP continue their alliance in 2027 Assembly elections.
