Sonia Gandhi takes initiative for seat sharing in West Bengal

New Delhi (17.12.2025): After Bihar debacle, Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson Sonia Gandhi has initiated the process of alliance with the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal and is trying to get a respectable number of seats. On the occasion of her birthday last week, she got a call from Mamata Banerjee and after exchanging pleasantries she initiated alliance talks. Sonia wants anything between 30-40 seats but Mamata Banerjee remained non-committal. Sonia being more reasonable and accommodative, if any seat sharing happens it would certainly avoid division of vote but it is going to be a polarised Assembly elections for sure.
