New Delhi (03.12.2025): If some well-placed sources are to be believed, the top position at the public broadcaster Prasar Bharati has fallen vacant following the abrupt resignation of Chairman Navneet Sehgal (Retd IAS: 1988: UP).

Sources indicate that Sehgal, a former top bureaucrat from the Uttar Pradesh cadre, submitted his papers today. Though various speculations have been doing rounds as reasons for his resignation yet no official reason has been cited for the sudden exit. A section of government insiders suggests that he was asked to step down.

Sehgal was appointed as Chairman in March 2024 for a period of three years or until he attained the age of 70. His appointment had ended a long period of vacancy at the top, as he had replaced A Surya Prakash, whose term concluded in February 2020. The unexpected vacancy now opens a new chapter of uncertainty at the state-run media organisation.
