PESB did not find a suitable candidate for the post of Director (Finance), Scooters India Limited (SIL). Only two candidates appeared for selection interview namely; Madhusudan Ray (GM, ALIMCO) and Seshamani Sakhtimani (AGM, RINL). The post of Director (Fin) has been lying vacant since long. The Board further recommended the Department of Heavy Industry to explore the possibility of appointing a candidate on deputation basis as a one time measure. Currently Rahul Bali (Director, Technical) is only full-time board level officer with SIL. The post of CMD and Director (Finance) are running vacant though post of CMD is with Jt Secretary (DHI) Rajesh Kumar Singh (IAS:KL:1989) as additional charge. Incorporated in 1972, SIL is a totally integrated automobile plant, engaged in designing, developing, manufacturing and marketing a broad spectrum of 3-wheelers which more relevant in the present socio-economic environment of fast developing Indian economy. However, in 1997, strategically, the company discontinued its two-wheeler production.
