Some recent developments have made several senior IRS (IT) officers apprehensive about their career prospects. The way Akhilesh Ranjan (member, CBDT) opted for VRS following re-appointment of P C Mody as CBDT Chairman, confidence of several senior most IRS officers seems to have shaken up. But officers belonging to junior batches take it sportingly. Out of humor, junior IRS officers are often heard saying ‘if you have ever served in Gujarat region you have chances but if you didn’t you should not lose hope’.
