rajendran-is-tn-dgp-order-issued As Indianmandarins had reported first on June 28 T K Rajendran (IPS:1984:TN) finally appointed regular DGP of Tamil Nadu. Having appointed on his retirement day Rajendran will have two years long tenure as TN police chief as per the SC guidelines in the Prakash Singh case. Currently, Rajendran serves as DGP (Intelligence) and holds the additional charge as DGP (Law and Order). He is also the Chairman, Uniformed Services Recruitment Board (USRB). The TN Police Act also prescribes that an officer appointed as DGP "shall hold the post for a minimum period of two years, irrespective of the date of his/her superannuation." It may be noted that UPSC this week had approved the panel of three senior IPS officers of which TN Govt picked Rajendran for the top cop job.
