Ashok Jain, a 1981 batch IAS officer, appointed as new Chief Secretary, Govt of Rajastha. Jain replaces Om Prakash Meena (IAS:1979:RJ) who retired today. Nihal Chand Goel (IAS:1982:RJ) & Devendra Bhushan Gupta (IAS:1983:RJ) were also in the race. Jain will retire on December 31, 2017.
It may be noted that Ashok Jain (IAS:1981:RJ) and Nihal Chand Goel (IAS:1982:RJ) were among the top contenders for the coveted job when C S Rajan (IAS:1978:RJ) was completing his second extended tenure as Chief Secretary on 30 June 2016 but O P Meena emerged victorious and was picked as CS.
