Railways: 27 officials removed from MoS’ secretariat

New Delhi (20.05.2022): The Railway Board removed 27 Indian Railways employees working in the capacity of the personal staff of the Minister of State for Railways. Officials included in the ranks of Deputy Director, Section Officer and Protocol Officers. Out of the total of 27 staffers, 9 are MTS. They have been punished for seeking favors like transfers, postings, reservations in lieu of money, and bookings at rail guest houses etc.

They were attached to a Minister of State after the last reshuffle in July 2021. The order issued dated May 20 directed these employees to go back to their parent office and leave Railways Minister's secretariat without any delay.

Various kinds of corrupt practices were going on, and based on intelligence information action has been taken. Further investigations about the alleged involvement of private parties like travel agents and tourist sector agents are underway. If anyone is found guilty, they can be dismissed from the services as is being done in recent times. Charges of sale of emergency rail reservation quota are also being investigated and the nexus of rail staff including the peons and other lower staff will also be looked upon. The officials removed are:-

  • Kranti Pandey: Assistant Protocol Officers
  • Ravinder Singh: SSA
