Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding an exclusive meeting with IRS officials who carry on their fragile shoulders the great responsibility of mobilizing resources for the expenditure made from the Consolidate Fund of India. Appropriately called Gyan Sangam, the meeting is part of NaMo's outreach programme, and inspire and motivate IRS officers in working out better and superior ideas for revenue collection.
Not surprisingly, the PM has shown keen interest to take a holistic approach and called for a joint meeting of the CBEC and CBDT officers, instead of holding their separate meetings as has been the practice. It's now for IRS officers to reach out to the PM and get their long-standing demands heard patiently, instead of grumbling in their chambers about their plight.
This follows a campaign by indianmandarins.com to highlight the plight of IRS officers in the last two months
