New Delhi (22.04.2025): While addressing Civil Servants on Civil Service Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged them to emerge from the role of regulator controlling the pace of industrialization and entrepreneurship as the nation has moved forward from this mindset. The country is now fostering an environment that promotes enterprise among people and helps them overcome barriers.
The Prime Minister made these crucial remarks at an event on 17th Civil Services Day at Vigyan Bhawan. He said that India's bureaucracy and policy making cannot operate on outdated framework and the policies the government is working on now are going to shape the future for the next 1000 years.
The PM said: "The policies we are working on today, the decisions we are making, are going to shape the future of the next thousand years. Our bureaucracy, our work and our policy cannot continue in the old way. After 2014, a very big 'Maha Yagna' of system transformation started in the country. We are adapting ourselves with the fast pace".
The PM also warned that in the fast-changing technology world, one should not forget the importance of human judgement and urged civil servants to always pay attention to people's voice. "Just like Atithi Devo Bhava (guests are our Gods), we have to move ahead with the new mantra Nagrik Devo Bhava (citizens are like God).
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that in the last ten years, India has seen a journey from incremental change to impactful transformation. In order to reduce bureaucratic delays, he said the government has eliminated 40,000 non-compliance and decriminalized over 3400 legal provisions.
Modi presented Prime Minister's awards for Excellence in Public Administration to UP's Additional Chief Secretary Anurag Srivastav (IAS: 1992: MP). Moradabad DM Anuj Singh (IAS: 2013: UP) was awarded for creating a library for the differently abled and Bahraich DM Monika Rani (IAS: 2011: UP) was recognised for her administrative work.
Dr Rahul Haridas Fating (IAS: 2012: MP) earned the recognition for his developmental work in Barwani district. Neha Meena's (IAS: 2014: MP) award acknowledges her innovative approach to tackling malnutrition through community engagement and her success in reducing severe malnutrition cases.
