Guwahati (29.12.2023): Three days ahead of retirement of the incumbent Chief Secretary Pawan Borthakur (IAS: 1989: AM), the Assam government extended his tenure for another three months. This is Himanta Biswa Sarma’s move to navigating through complex administrative challenges and ongoing developmental initiatives. Borthakur took over the baton from Jishnu Barua in September 2022 and was slated to retire on 31.12.2023. Having secured a fresh lease of service, Borthakur will continue to lead the administrative machinery of Assam until 31.03.2024.
