New Delhi (15.08.2024): Parvathaneni Harish (IFS:1990), presently Ambassador of India to Germany, has been appointed as the next Ambassador/ Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations at New York. This appointment was necessary in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi likely to be attending the ‘UN Summit of the Future’ on September 22-23 and may also address an Indian community event in New York. He is also likely to attend the UN General Assembly amid rumours of the Quad Summit taking place on the side-lines of the UN Summit.
He is expected to take up the assignment shortly. The position of India's ambassador or permanent representative to the UN has been lying vacant after Ruchira Kamboj retired in June, 2024
