New Delhi (14.08.2024): The New Delhi establishment appears to have geared up for another surprise with the curtailment of tenure of Nalin Prabhat (IPS: 1992: AP) as DG, NSG and subsequently bringing his services from Andhra Pradesh to AGMUT Cadre for three years on Inter-cadre deputation.
Who’s who in AGMUT Cadre are perplexed over the implications of this abrupt though unique development.
Not just a coincidence that the curtailment of his tenure as DG NSG followed Union Home Secretary’s meeting with the Election Commission of India held today on J&K Assembly elections preparations.
A section of insiders believes that he may be sent to J&K as DGP before the Assembly elections are notified. This holds sound logic as Rashmi Ranjan Swain (IPS: 1991: UT) regularised last week only as DGP of J&K till his retirement on September 30, 2024.
Though, another section apprehends that Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora (IPS: 1988: TN) may be sent to BSF who has already headed ITBP (Him Vir) mandated for high altitude border guarding operations but that appears an initial level of speculations until the new Delhi establishment unfolds its plan. DG post in BSF fell vacant a couple of days back. Probably, this very section takes a cue from the fact that Arora completed his two years term as Delhi CP on July 31, 2024.
It may be underlined that Nalin Prabhat, then ADG CRPF, was appointed as Director General, National Security Guard (NSG) on 19.04.2024 up to 31.08.2028 i.e. date of his superannuation.
