NTPC has paid a total dividend of Rs 1,995.28 crore to the government for the 2015-16 financial year. "NTPC Ltd paid a total dividend @ 33.5 percent of its paid-up capital for the financial year 2015-16, amounting to Rs 2,762.23 crore. The dividend payment is fourth highest among public sector undertakings," the PSU said in a statement.
The company had paid an interim dividend at 16 percent amounting to Rs 1,319.27 crore on February 15, 2016. It also paid the final dividend at 17.5 percent amounting to Rs 1,442.96 crore on September 30, 2016. "The RTGS advice for the transfer of Rs 1,006.38 crore to Government of India, being the share of Government of India in the final dividend, was presented by Gurdeep Singh, CMD, NTPC, to Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines in the presence of Pradeep Kumar Pujari Secretary, MOP (Ministry of Power)," it said.
