New Delhi (28.07.2026): Creating a history of the sort, NTPC Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) Gurdeep Singh has further been given six-month extension to become the longest serving PSU chief. He will now continue as CMD of NTPC Limited up to January 31, 2027. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared his re-employment on a contract basis.

His new tenure starts from August 1, 2026 which will last for six months. With this latest extension, Gurdeep Singh becomes the longest-serving CMD of any Central Public Sector Undertaking in India. He has been leading NTPC since February 2016.
