New Delhi (04.07.2026): With over a decade long extended tenure of NTPC Limited Chairman Gurdeep Singh coming to an end on July 31, 2026, the Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) will be interviewing 18 candidates today to find out a suitable name of the successor of the incumbent Chairman.
The selection process via SCSC route was initiated after the PESB could not decide during interviews in May 2025. The Ministry of Power had invited applications for the post earlier this year between February 28 and March 28. 
Subject to SCSC’s recommendations and ACC’s approval the new Chairman will take over the charge on August 1, 2026. The honchos appearing for the interview and their present assignments are as follows:
  1. Shivam Srivastav: Director (Fuel), NTPC 
  2. Supendra Panda: Executive Director (ED) 
  3. Devashish Panda: Executive Director (ED) 
  4. Vijay Chand: Executive Director (ED) 
  5. Ashok Sahgal: Executive Director (ED) 
  6. Sarit Maheshwari: Executive Director (ED) 
  7. L K Behra: Executive Director (ED) 
  8. Ajay Kumar Shukla: Executive Director (ED) 
  9. Anuj Jain: Director, Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) 
  10. Manoj Sharma: Executive Director (ED), IOC 
  11. Ajit Thakur: Executive Director (ED), IOC 
  12. Hemant Rathor: Executive Director (ED), IOC
  13. Atul Kumar Tripathi: Executive Director (ED), GAIL
  14. Pankaj Panda: Executive Director (ED), PGCIL
  15. Hemant Das: Executive Director (ED), PFC
  16. Kamlesh Kumar Jangid: Director (Finance), Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam
