New Delhi (19.03.2021): The 1992 batch Kerala-cadre IAS officer, Sanjeev Kaushik (IAS:1992:KL), currently additional secretary in the FinMin, is locked in stiff competition with Priya Subbaraman, Chief Regulatory Officer at National Stock Exchange (NSE), for the top job of MD & CEO of National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL).

Indianmandarins has learned that the Sebi may shortly decide who the winner is.

Since Subbaraman is already part of the NSDL board as shareholder's director, he has a clear advantage. He is a law graduate and a company secretary who has worked as a senior compliance officer with Kotak Securities, Kotak Bank, and Standard Chartered Bank.

But the chances of Kaushik can't also be discounted. He holds an MBA degree from London Business School and previously served as Director, Capital Markets, in the Department of Economic Affairs between 2011 and 201. He also worked in the capital market divisions of HSBC and Lehman Brothers in Mumbai and served as vice president of UTI Securities Ltd.

Promoted by the NSE and established in 1996, NSDL is the platform for most of the securities held and settled in dematerialized form in the Indian capital market.

The outgoing NSDL MD and CEO GV, Nagesh Rao, has been serving since 2013 and is currently on an extension.
