In a major bureaucratic reshuffle, affected on Sunday Punjab, as many as nine senior IAS officers were shifted with Vishwajit Khanna (IAS:1987:PB) becoming the new Financial Commissioner, Revenue, relieving the state’s senior-most IAS Officer Karan Bir Singh Sidhu (IAS:1984:PB). Holding the additional charge of ACS, Food Processing Khanna was hailed for the smooth procurement of wheat amid the COVID curfew. Anirudh Tewari (IAS:1990:PB), ACS Finance, was given the charge of ACS-cum-Financial Commissioner, Development. He will hold the additional charge of Food Processing, Horticulture, Power, New & Renewable Energy etc. In the aftermath of the controversy surrounding the excise policy that happened during the lockdown A Venu Prasad (IAS:1991:PB) was made Financial Commissioner, Taxation. He will also hold the additional charge of CMD, Punjab Power Corporation Limited but his charge of Mines and Geology Department has been given to Sarvjit Singh. Kirpa Shankar Saroj (IAS:1989:PB), presently working as ACS Social Justice, Empowerment & Minorities, was given the additional charge of NRI Affairs in place of Rahul Bhandari (IAS:1995:PB). Kakumanu Siva Prasad (IAS:1993:PB) replaces KAP Sinha as Principal Secretary, Food and Civil Supplies Department whereas K A Prasad Sinha (IAS:1992:PB) was posted as Principal Secretary, Finance Department. Alok Shekhar (IAS:1994:PB) was given Sinha’s additional charge of Parliamentary Affairs Department. Ms Amanpreet Kaur Sandhu (IAS:2016:PB) posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development), Mansa. Further, a PSC officer Rajesh Kumar Sharma (IAS:2016) was posted as Deputy Principal Secretary to Chief Minister of Punjab.
