NHIDCL, the newly constituted Govt of India Undertaking under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, has started finding its feet firmly, though gradually. The parent ministry (MoRTH) has started handing over the Project Implementation Units (PIUs) to the newly constituted body. Initially as many as four PIUs have been handed over to the NHIDCL. The PIUs are located in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Tripura & Assam. One more PIU has started shaping up in Jammu. Anand Kumar (IAS:1984:KL), the first MD of NHIDCL is working hard to shape it up. PTI Building is expected to become the new address of National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) reportedly by the first week of March. NHIDCL is presently housed in Transpost Bhawan. The first board meeting of NHIDCL had taken place on July 21, 2014 which was chaired by Vijay Chhiber (Secretary, MoRTH) as its Chairperson and Rohit Singh (JS Project) & Niraj Verma (JS Admin) as Members on the Board. Further anand Kumar (IAS:1984:KL) was appointed as its first MD on December 26, 2014 who previously served as JS, Tourism.
