Former CAG Vinod Rai (Rtd IAS:1972:KL) is all set to join Railways as 'honorary advisor'. He would be tasked to study, analyse and advise the Railways as how to bring-in more transparency in business processes including operations, decision-making, procurement and finances.
It is the former CAG who had underlined the irregularities in the auction of spectrum and coal block allocations which caused loss of public money. The CAG report had caused damage to the erstwhile UPA-II and had helped BJP sharpen its weapons while in opposition.
