Nagaland on PM's political radar

nagaland-on-pms-political-radar Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that the Prime Minister Office is hard pressed to resolve the decades' old thorny Nagaland issue. The state CM is said to have met PM yesterday. Reportedly, the implementation of Naga Peace Talks is heading towards a critical juncture where it would require deft political handling. Also, the Assembly elections in Nagaland are scheduled in 2018. It is learnt that during the peace talks held some time ago, it was agreed that an Interim Government would be formed in the state right before 2018 elections. For this purpose, all MLAs will resign from their membership from the Legislative Assembly to pave the way for an Interim Govt. The previous CM had resigned from his seat with the understanding that the incumbent CM, too, will quit his post to help the formation of an Interim Govt. But the incumbent CM seems to be reluctant to do so. This has complicated the situation and necessitated the intervention of the PMO.
