New Delhi (02.03.2022): Controversy has gripped the Maharashtra government's decision to remove Hemant Nagrale (IPS:1987:MH) from the post of Mumbai police commissioner.
There is a buzz in bureaucratic parlance that the Maharashtra state government hastily removed former Mumbai Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale as the former Mumbai top cop could not book the BJP leader Kirit Somaiya and his son Nil Somaiya. Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MPSanjay Rout had leveled allegations on Nil Somaiya that he was involved in the PMC Bank scam. Sanjay Rout expected immediate police action against Kirit Somaiya and Nil Somaiya but Nagrale could not live upto expectations. Now he has been shunted out. This task to act against ‘BJP leaders’ lies on the new Mumbai Police Commissioner Sanjay Pande (IPS:1986:MH).
