New Delhi (23.05.2021): Ms Jagjit Pavadia, a former Indian Revenue Service (Customs) has been elected as President of International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), Vienna; an international body that monitors the compliance of UN Member States with the three international drug control conventions and the functioning of the international drug control system. It’s for the first time that an Indian is heading INCB and the second woman in INCB history to head it. INCB in its statement said that “The Board will pay particular attention to the timely supply of and access to controlled drugs during emergency situations. It will also continue its work on the development of guidelines for the control and monitoring of cannabis and cannabis-related substances,”.
