New Delhi (22.05.2021): Indianmandarins has learned that the Coronavirus has taken away the lives of 44 Central Secretariat officers including CSS & CSSS Cadre in the prime of their life. These officers from the ranks of director to assistant section officer were frontline government employees who have been keeping the wheels of government going. Their death definitely merits quick and generous compensation not only to keep up the morale of other employees but also to improve the much-maligned image of the NDA administration.
Already, the Central Secretariat (NG) Employees Union has reported the matter to the government. In a representation, it has called for a minimum relief of ₹one crore for the family of the deceased officers as well as employment for a family member to help them cope with the sudden exigencies of life arising from the death in the line of duty of their earning members.
The representation narrates the obvious things like the high education cost, etc in its appeal to the government for showing generosity to family members of the deceased officers.
The representation says: "We would also like to reiterate here that the Central Secretariat being the policy formulating organization of the government of India, Employees, and Officers of this organization are working as essential service employees. Thus, the families of the victims of the COVID-19 attack deserve the sympathy of one and all and also need to be salvaged and supported for rehabilitation".
