New Delhi (18.06.2024): Following poor results for the ruling dispensation in Uttar Pradesh in 2024 LS Polls, equations in the state are getting increasingly fluid. The sudden meeting of UP Chief Secretary Durga Shanker Mishra (IAS: 1984: UP) with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Monday, fuelled rumours that he is here to stay either by getting one more extension as CS beyond 30.06.2024 or some other key assignment at the Centre.
A section of insiders says that one should not overlook that despite stability honoured at the top with Dr P K Mishra and Ajit Doval continuing in NaMo 3.0, the churning process in administrative equations is underway ahead of Union Home Secretary and Union Cabinet Secretary completing their extended tenure in August 2024.
Mishra’s meeting with the Home Minister also assumes significance in the backdrop of the Yogi administration giving NoC (for Central Deputation) to two key officials belonging to 1989 batch of IAS namely -- SP Goyal and Devesh Chaturvedi -- immediately after the completion of LS Polls. Both of them are expected to be appointed as Secretary in the Government of India in the upcoming bureaucratic rejig at Centre.
