In a major bureaucratic rejig the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet cleared the appointment of over 30 officers to the post of Joint Secretary in various ministries and departments as follows:

• Abhilaksh Likhi (IAS:1991:HY) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare vice Ashish K Bhutani (IAS:1992:AM).
• Paban K. Borthakur (IAS:1989:AM) appointed Chairman (JS level), APEDA under Department of Commerce for period ending 30 April 2022. Currently he serves as Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare. He replaces D K Singh (IAS:1989:KL) who had recently repatriated to cadre on completion of tenure.
• Atish Chandra (IAS:1994:BH) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers Welfare vice Borthakur.
• Bhabani Prasad Pati (IFoSL1994:GJ) appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal, vice N K Sudhanshu (IAS:2000:MH)
• Ms. Vismita Tej (IRS IT:1990) appointed Joint Secretary, Ministry of Coal.
• Ms Nidhi Mani Tripathi (IAS:2001:MN) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce vice Manoj Kumar Dwivedi (IAS:1997:J&K) who recently repatriated to cadre state on completion of tenure.
• Anand Mohan Bajaj (IA&AS:1990) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs vice Praveen Garg (IAS:1988:MP).
• Ms. V Vidyavathi (IAS:1991:KN) and Gyanesh Bharti (IAS:1998:UT) replaced (laterally) each other. Bharti currently serves in Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change whereas Ms Vidyavathi serves in Cabinet Secretariat.
• Partha Sartahi Sensharma (IAS:1994:UP) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Fertilizers vice Mrs Alka Tiwari (IAS:1988:JH).
• R K Khandelwal (IAS:1989:BH) appointed Deputy Director General (JS level), Department of Telecommunications, on lateral shift basis. Currently he serves in Department of Food & Public Distribution.
• S. Jagannathan (IRTS:1989) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Food & Public Distribution vice R K Khandelwal.
• Ms Sukriti Likhi (IAS:1993:HY) appointed Joint Secretary, Department of Heavy Industry  vice Sivanand N (IOFS:1985).
• Mandeep Bhandari (IAS:2001:JK) appointed Joint Secretary (newly created post), Department of Health & Family Welfare for a period ending 17 January 2023.
