Although Jain, who is scheduled to retire at the end-month, has not been keen on continuing as he was eying a position in the central election commission, CM Devendra Fadnavis is said to have been not in favor of disturbing the official hierarchy. Jain's extension may impact Additional Chief Secretary (Finance) Urvinder Pal Singh Madan (IAS:1983:MH) and Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta (IAS:1984:MH). While Madan is the second-most senior additional chief secretary due to retire in October 2019, Mehta is due to retire in September 2019.
