Indianmandarins has reliably learnt that Sudeep Lakhtakiya (IPS:1984: AP) may be appointed as the Director General of Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The post has virtually fallen vacant following the UP Govt's announcement to appoint Om Prakash Singh (IPS:1984: UP) as the state DGP.
Lakhtakiya is currently serving as the ADG, CRPF. Earlier he held the additional charge of DG, CRPF as a stop-gap arrangement.
It was widely believed the government would have made him the CRPF DG had the DG empanelment of 1984 batch had taken place a bit earlier. But the massive Naxal attack on CRPF in Bastar (Chhattisgarh) marred his prospect and the establishment had no option but to appoint a regular DG for the largest paramilitary force.
He is the senior-most officer among his batchmates (DG empanelled) waiting for their turn for DG rank posting. He is considered a competent hand in field operations.
