New Delhi (02.08.2021): Tripura seems to be a new battleground for the BJP and TMC with the state having a predominantly Bengali populace. Ever since Mukul Roy rejoined TMC, speculation has been rife if the Tripura Government would survive or not. Roy was instrumental in the formation of the BJP government in Tripura. Now, Abhishek Banerjee’s – nephew of Mamata Banerjee -- Tripura visit is certainly not for site seeing. The TMC is trying to pay the BJP in the same coin by keeping it on tenterhooks and not letting it settle down as it wants to spread its wings beyond West Bengal. This could also be the wisest strategy to start with a homogenous community. Roy is trying hard to bring half a dozen TMC MLAs who switched sides to BJP on his behest. Grapevine is abuzz that Himanta Viswa Sarma wants his man as Tripura CM. So, time to wait and watch as it is certain that ‘Khela Hobe.’
