New Delhi (03.01.2023): The Centre accepted resignation of Manoj Kumar Mishra (IRTS: 2000), who was on deputation to the Government of Odisha as Commissioner, Rail Co-ordination and Special Secretary to Government, Commerce & Transport Department, from Railway Service with effect from December 28, 2022.

Mishra is considered to be very close to Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik which is endorsed with his immediate appointment in the state government. Insiders believe that Mishra is expected to take a plunge in politics during the next elections. Meanwhile, the Odisha government appointed him as Principal Secretary of Electronics and Information Technology on contractual basis, a day after his resignation was accepted by the Centre.
